Things to do Labor Day Weekend in Kansas City
Kidfest at Science City Union Station
Saturday, August 31st from 10 am to 5 pm
Come to Science City for a day full of science fun! Kids activities center around STEM learning through hands on things to do. Kids can enjoy face painting, balloon artists, maker activities, hands-on sensory activities, science demos & so much more fun.
This is a free event with Science City admission. Or, kids 3-12 are $7.
Goat Yoga at Paradise Park – Closed Temporarily.
Colbern Road in Lee’s Summit
If you’re looking for some out of the box things to do Labor Day weekend in Kansas City you should consider signing up for a Goat Yoga session hosted by Sunset Trails Stables at Paradise Park.
KC Renaissance Festival Opening Weekend
Open Saturday, August 31st to Columbus Day, 11 to 7 pm, rain or shine.
You do not want to miss out on the magic of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival! This Labor Day Weekend there will be a costume contest, candy corn relay, hula hoop contest, balloon toss, rootbeer chug, and a polish sausage eating contest. There will also be tons of shops, activities, and shows throughout the weekend.
Gate admission: Adult $21.95, Child $12.95, Senior/Student $19.50, kids 5 & under are FREE. Buy online and save. Hyvee, Walgreen’s and Menard’s offer discounted tickets. There is also free parking.
SantaCaliGon Days Festival
Downtown Independence, MO
This year’s 47th annual SantaGaliGon Days Festival will take place the entire Labor Day weekend and includes craft and artisan vendors, food, live music, and activities for the whole family. Admission into the event is free. Expect to pay for food (at trucks and booths) as well as carnival games and rides.
Come enjoy the festival all weekend, it is a great thing to do with the kids!
KC Irish Fest
Crown Center Plaza in Kansas City
This is an Irish, Labor Day Weekend tradition in Kansas City. Join the fun with music and entertainment to celebrate Irish Celtic culture. There will live bands, workshops, comedy shows, a giant kids’ area with things to do, & so much more family fun.

DeSoto Days Festival
DeSoto, Kansas
DeSoto days is an annual series of Labor Day activities that take place at Miller Memorial Park. Not only is this a great opportunity to enjoy some family time together but they also have vendors, a carnival, parade, and live music. This event takes place Thursday-Saturday. Admission is FREE for everyone…we love free events for families!

There is free admission to the Sunflower Farm! You can take fun fmaily pictures and pick sunflowers to take home. There are 40 acres filled with rows and rows of gorgeous sunflowers; great photo opportunities!
