🦖 Dinosaur Road Trip at Union Station Kansas City

Dates: July 3rd, 2020 to January 6th, 2021

Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Travel across the U.S. visiting dinosaurs as you go! There’s 26 life-size animatronic dinosaurs to see in 18 states on Route 66. Tickets are limited for each time slot to adhere to distancing guidelines, so grab your tickets early to get your preferred time slot.

🤸Spirit Week Camp at Sky Zone

This week is Tie Dye & Crazy Hair Days at Sky Zone Kansas City Sky Zone Lee’s Summit. Drop the kids off for one day or a feel week – whatever works with your schedule!

🌊 Learn to Wakeboard at KC Watersports

Date: Every Tuesday (8/25, 9/1, 9/8…)

Time: All day

Every Tuesday, the cable lake slows the speed of the wake boarding cable for beginners to get their turn learning the ropes.

Homeschool STEM Workshop 

Date: Friday, August 21st

Time: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

This online workshop is being put on at 3 Code Ninjas locations – LeawoodOlathe or Lenexa locations 

Price: Only $10 per child 

Chalk the Walk – Apart but Together

Dates: Friday, August 21st to Sunday, August 23rd

Time: Friday at 5:00 pm to Sunday at Noon

This free event is meant to bring the community together by connecting Independence Square & Englewood Arts District with chalk art. Whether you’re a professional artist or a family who loves to doodle, there’s a spot for you to decorate! Come express yourself with your kiddos by creating your own work of chalk art.

You can also watch live chalk art demonstrations in the Square on Saturday. The start time has not been finalized, so check back later! On Friday, a large mural will also be revealed at 6:30 pm to kick off the event.

Movie in the Park: The Muppets

Dates: Friday, September 18th

Time: 8:30 pm, movie begins at dusk

Come watch “The Muppets” drive-in movie with your family in the park. You will need to stay in your car during the film, but restrooms will be available for use during the event. Enter through the parking lot on Woodsonia Dr. Bring your own radio or use your car radio to listen along during the movie.

Living the Great War Saturday

Dates: Saturday, September 29th

Time: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

The annual Live the Great War event will feature military volunteers sharing the history of Word War I and other important historical happenings. It’s free to the public, so everyone can come enjoy this educational event.

You’ll be able to check out realistic war camp setups and vehicles from the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.

October Events:

Family Campout

Dates: Friday & Saturday, October 2nd & 3rd

Time: Friday at 5:00 pm to Saturday at 9:00 am

Campout with your kiddos at Black Hoof Park. You’ll sleep in a tent, enjoy s’mores and family fun in the evening and donuts and coffee in the morning. You must register by September 25th to save your spot!

Merriam Drive Live Street & Lawn Party

Dates: Saturday, October 3rd

Time: 11:00 am to 6:00 pm

This rain or shine event will happen in downtown Merriam. A full on lawn party will shut down the streets and include tons of activities for kids & families. There will be food trucks, live music on two stages, beer & wine and a cornhole tournament. All the fun will include:

December Events:

Small Mall with C.W. Parker Carousel Museum

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, December 5th & 6th

Time: Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Sunday: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Children 3-13 years old can shop for your holiday gifts at the Small Mall independently. This holiday shopping event is meant for kids to be able to shop on their own for loved ones. According the the museum, “Prior to entering the shopping ares a gift list is completed with names, ages and dollar amount for each gift on the child’s list.  Our volunteer elves guide each shopper into the shopping area where gifts are arranged according to category and price.”

A free ride on the carousel is included for each child, as well as magic reindeer poop and kids crafts. Parents can enjoy refreshments and a raffle while waiting for the child to shop around.
