A Star is Born Movie Review: Perfect Girls Night or Date Night Movie
A Star is Born Movie Review
This film brings the audience into behind the scenes of Hollywood.
A Star is Born, directed by Bradley Cooper, engages the audience from the very first scene.
RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 16 minutes
Imagine yourself at a live concert in the front row. The sound envelopes the room and reverberates off every corner in the theater.
Jackson Maine (Cooper) and his opposite Ally (Lady Gaga) have a happenstance meeting with an instant connection. Maine is a musician nearing the end of his career with an alcohol and drug addiction. Ally is a waitress that sings occasionally at a drag bar as the only female vocalist – invited solely for her talent.
One chance meeting and their relationship begins. Maine learns that Ally is a talented singer/songwriter, so he coerces her to go on stage in an impromptu live concert with him.
Together they begin to tour and perform as their relationship grows. Ally is then discovered by a talent agent, which takes her career to the next level. She begins to lose her sense of self.
Maine spirals into his addictions but none the less, she stands by him until the end.
Was A Star is Born Good?
This film may be a remake of two predecessors, but I won’t bat an eye. Impressed by the content and the music, I was engaged from the opening scene to ending credits.
This movie stands well on its own and could arguably be considered an epic romance. I loved watching the two characters oppose each other.
Much of the film seemed real & raw when they were together, rather than a staged movie.
It did, however, jump between scenes somewhat quickly. This may have been due to the length of the film. Running time is 2 hours and 15 minutes, so there is a lot to fit in.
The music carries the film in a way that had me ready to hunt down the soundtrack. The music is fantastic-minus the hit song that she sings a ‘pop artist’. I won’t give it away, but you will know it when you hear it! Even Maine, can’t stand that song. Haha!
The Cast of A Star is Born:
Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott
I will say that if you are looking for a girl’s night out or a great date night movie. This is the show of the month to see.
