Everyone knows that Starbucks has yummy, creamy hot cocoa with all the flavors, there are SO many other places for hot cocoa in KC.

With the current circumstances, we’d also like to recommend some small, local shops that serve up some AMAZING hot chocolate!

Kate’s Kitchen

This Northland diner has several rave reviews with many mentioning their “amazing hot chocolate”. They are also said to serve the best from scratch biscuits around, and the brisket omelet is a must if you are there for breakfast!

Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates

1819 McGee St. KCMO

Located in the Crossroads, this quaint shop offers a wide array of delicious hot cocoa flavors.  Their signature Venezuelan Spiced hot chocolate is made with steamed milk, dark chocolate, nine spices , two kinds of chiles, homemade whipped cream and marshmallows – a must try!

A wonderful cafe owned and run by a proud Sicilian family with Kansas City roots.  The hot chocolate here, cioccolato, is extra special!  Treat yourself and indulge in a cup of this rich, molten chocolate with house-made marshmallow.  

Mud Pie Vegan Bakery and Coffee House

1615 W 39th St (between Wyoming & Genessee St), Kansas City, MO

Lovely coffee and cocoa house for you and your littles!  Located in a beautiful big yellow 19th century Victorian house, the upstairs has comfy beanbags, toys, books and a chalkboard to keep your kiddos happy while you enjoy your cocoa or get some work done. Choose from coconut milk hot cocoa, iced hot cocoa, and hot and spicy Mexican hot cocoa.

Yum, a Boutique Bakery

104 E. 43rd St. Kansas City, MO

YUM is Kansas City’s only vintage-style, small-batch bakery and boutique.

This fun, darling shop makes it’s hot cocoa, and all it’s pastries, from scratch with the best ingredients and lots of love!  Available in original, salted caramel and Mexican coffee flavors. YUM!

The Roasterie Cafe

6223 Brookside Blvd (at W 62nd Ter), Kansas City, MO

This famous Kansas City coffee company was started in the basement of a Brookside home in 1993.  Now with nine unique Kansas City cafes, they are said to serve “The BEST hot cocoa in town”! Supporting another local small business, the Roasterie uses Shatto milk in their cocoa.  People say the coffee is great, but the cocoa is AMAZING!

Main Street Coffee House

107 South Main St. Independence, MO

 Located on the Historic Independence Square, Main Street is the perfect Christmas movie coffee shop. Sip on a delicious cup of one of their specialty seasonal hot cocoas while you take in the cozy, relaxing atmosphere.

Poppy’s Ice Cream & Coffee House

Located in charming downtown Lees Summit, Poppy’s is a delightful shop with heavenly hot cocoa.  Warm up with a cup while Christmas shopping at the local small business shops nearby.
