Toy Story 4 Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 1 hour 21 minutes
If you don’t have anything else planned with the family this summer, then definitely plan to see Toy Story 4!
I was lucky enough to screen Toy Story 4 this week and the only thing that was missing was ushers passing out boxes of tissue for everyone watching.
From the beginning of this installment, my emotions were already on edge! The classic opening song, “you’ve got a friend in me” quickly recaps the emotional highs and lows of the previous films, instantly making you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
The entire Toy Story crew is back with a few new friends and they are even funnier than before! Come along with Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep and a super special new friend, Forky as they venture on one wild road trip in this newest film!
What Did We Think?
Toy Story 4 will have you laughing, crying and thinking back to a time when you were younger and how much you loved your toys. This movie is definitely a great summer movie choice for everyone so make sure you add a trip to see this on your calendar!
Toy Story Cast:

Aladdin Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 8 minutes
Let me start off by saying that I have loved the original cartoon movie Aladdin since I was a little girl. I went into this movie with excitement, knowing that my childhood favorite was being brought to life in a live action film.
Let me say it did not disappoint!
The Aladdin Storyline
The film follows a very similar plot line to the original Disney favorite. The movie flows are well driven by familiar songs and lovable characters. In addition, they blended in some music from the Broadway musical of Aladdin. It was a nice addition to the film and gave it a new voice and a comedic aspect.
Leading actors Naomi Scott (Jasmin), Will Smith (Genie) and Mena Messoud (Aladdin) did a fantastic job filling the shoes for their individual roles. You can clearly see how much work was put into bringing the film to the big screen. They were engaging and mesmerizing.
The role of Jasmin was filled with a girl power message and she set the stage as a positive and caring role model for other girls. Aladdin and the Genie were a great pair that drove the storyline as they conquered obstacle after obstacle.
How is the New Aladdin?
I am definitely impressed with how the film turned out.
The only critique that I might add, would be that the conflict with Jafar was abbreviated and wasn’t the big battle that I remember. It seemed to end a bit abruptly. Nevertheless, the movie is nothing to shake your head about. I observed kids in awe of the magic happenings and parents seemed to be just as engaged in the film.
At the end of the movie kids were dancing in the aisle! If you have the opportunity to see this movie, I definitely would. I will be adding it to my home movie collection – I may even purchase the soundtrack too!
Cast of Aladdin:
Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Nasim Pedrad, Navid Negahban
Poms Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 1 hour 31 minutes
I recently got to see the new movie, Poms, which was absolutely adorable!! The old cheerleader in me loved this movie for so many reasons! It isn’t just about the cheerleading aspect, but it also tugged on my nurse heart with the storyline of the movie, too.
I didn’t realize how many familiar faces were in the movie – from Diane Keaton to Rhea Perlman to Jacky Weaver! This movie was definitely one I’d recommend if you’re looking for something funny with a little bit of an old school twist.
The Story line of Poms
The movie starts by introducing us to Martha. She moves to a retirement community after finding our about her cancer diagnosis. Martha hopes she can be left alone at the retirement community; however, that isn’t the case.
She moves next door to Sheryl, the known “party girl” in the community. They do not hit is off. When she tries to befriend Martha, they eventually bond over their joint interests in cheerleading – a fun past time for them.
In order to be admitted into their community, you must be a part of a club. Typically community members joined bingo club, golf, or another leisure club. But these ladies don’t want to participate in just any old club… They want their own club – a cheerleading club.
After they assemble their cheer squad, they decide to compete against other high school cheer squads – you know, like HIGH SCHOOL aged cheer squads. Naturally, you can imagine how well that goes!
What Do We Think of Poms?
I was pleasantly surprised at how well these older ladies did in comparison to their competition! The cheer squad had some cute uniforms, awesome dance/cheer moves and a funny story line.
In the end, I think anyone who sees this movie will be entertained at the funny moments and saddened by the ending. I know I did! Whether you were a cheerleader or not, it’s a super cute movie that all ages would enjoy.
Cast of Poms:
Jackie Weaver, Diane Keaton, Pam Grier, Alisha Boe, Celia Weston, Rhea Pearlman, & others.
Mary Poppins Returns Review
RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 10 minutes
We can all agree, we remember the charming story from our childhood.
The original Mary Poppins film, released in 1964, has become a beloved movie for generations.
So, it comes as no surprise that fans are excited for the return of Mary Poppins.
The new movie picks up at the same sweet house on Cherry Tree Lane where grown up Michael Banks lives together with his two children.
His sister, Jane, lives in a nearby flat and remains an active part of the family. After suffering a loss and several hardships over the previous year, Michael finds himself in at risk of losing his home.
Just as everything seems to be falling apart in his life, Mary Poppins returns. This movie, in true Disney spirit, is quirky and fun. The lively music and beautiful imagery will keep audiences captivated throughout the film.
Moviegoers who fell in love with the original film will undoubtedly appreciate the references sprinkled in during the movie.
What Do We Think About Mary Poppins Returns?
Although the movie couldn’t possibly live up to its predecessor, it’s one that will likely be appreciated for many years to come. Emily Blunt does a marvels job at capturing the personality and mannerisms that Julie Andrews brought to the character before.
The storyline, although clearly a continuance of “Mary Poppins” does stand alone on its own for fans who haven’t seen the first movie. If you’re looking for a fun film to take the whole family to this holiday break, check out “Mary Poppins Returns”.
Overall, I give it a solid A rating.
Cast of Mary Poppins Returns
Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Dick Van Dyke, Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, and Colin Firth
Smallfoot Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 1 hour 36 minutes
Smallfoot is a charming movie who a fun twist. The movie is filled with catchy music, adorable characters, and a great moral story. There are more than a few comedic scenes, but my favorite was the goat. Yes, I said goat…
It was slow to start but finished strong & entertaining. If you have little ones, older ones or anyone – go see this cute movie!
The Smallfoot Storyline
There’s a big myth-understanding!
As the story goes, Migo is a BIGFOOT, otherwise known as Sasquatch or the abominable snowman. His civilization has been living in the mountains way above the clouds for many generations. They have heard myths of a smallfoot (human), but until now no one had proof of their existence. Migo, a young Bigfoot that thinks outside the box, spends the movie trying to find his place in the world. Until one day…
He…discovers…. a…SMALL FOOT.
It’s a shock and no one believes him. His community has been taught to question nothing and push curiosity aside. Disappointed and shunned out of the community for daring to believe, Migo goes on a quest to prove the existence of smallfoot.
Down below the clouds is the smallfoot civilization. They know of the Bigfoot myth and believe Bigfoots are dangerous. The Bigfoot artwork shows vicious scenes of interactions with humans, and no one questions it.
Percy, a smallfoot, is an adventurer and a nature enthusiast. He has a show on television but ratings are sinking. He is looking for a new way to boost his show.
What Happens Next…?
Losing his integrity, Percy devises a plan to con the world by filming a Bigfoot for live TV, using a costume prop. Little does he know, he is about to come eye to eye with the real deal!
Migo, the curious Bigfoot decides to venture down beyond with clouds with the help of his friends. He and the SES are determined to prove smallfoot existence together.
teWhen Migo lands in the human world, he comes face to face with the smallfoot Percy. They both have been taught that the other is a vicious monster, so their guard is up and every move is misconstrued as they are also unable to communicate. A turn of events leaves Percy immobilized for a time and Migo snatches him up to take him home so he can prove that he has truly seen a smallfoot.
The Bigfoot world is in an uproar at their arrival, and the leader (The Stonekeeper) is less than thrilled. As time goes on, the crazy situation turned a little less bleak as Percy and Migo become friends and get to know each other. Percy spends a good bit of time in the Bigfoot civilization and gets to know what Bigfoots are like. They both realize that they have many things in common.
The situation again turns dicey as The Stonekeeper explains to Migo, the reason the two worlds don’t co-exist. Migo becomes fearful of the smallfoot civilization and some of his worst fears are brought forward as he rushes to rescue his friends that have ventured down the mountain.
Can humankind and a Bigfoot society, co-exist?
You will have to watch the movie and find out!
Channing Tatum, James Corden, Zendaya, Common, Lebron James, Danny DeVito, Gina Rodriguez, & more famous stars.
This is a great movie for the whole family to enjoy together! It is heartwarming and often funny! Check out more info on the official Smallfoot website.
A Star is Born Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 16 minutes
This film brings the audience into behind the scenes of Hollywood.
A Star is Born, directed by Bradley Cooper, engages the audience from the very first scene.
Imagine yourself at a live concert in the front row. The sound envelopes the room and reverberates off every corner in the theater.
Jackson Maine (Cooper) and his opposite Ally (Lady Gaga) have a happenstance meeting with an instant connection. Maine is a musician nearing the end of his career with an alcohol and drug addiction. Ally is a waitress that sings occasionally at a drag bar as the only female vocalist – invited solely for her talent.
One chance meeting and their relationship begins. Maine learns that Ally is a talented singer/songwriter, so he coerces her to go on stage in an impromptu live concert with him. Together they begin to tour and perform as their relationship grows. Ally is then discovered by a talent agent, which takes her career to the next level. She begins to lose her sense of self.
Maine spirals into his addictions but none the less, she stands by him until the end.
Was A Star is Born Good?
This film may be a remake of two predecessors, but I won’t bat an eye. Impressed by the content and the music, I was engaged from the opening scene to ending credits. This movie stands well on its own and could arguably be considered an epic romance. I loved watching the two characters oppose each other.
Much of the film seemed real & raw when they were together, rather than a staged movie. It did, however, jump between scenes somewhat quickly. This may have been due to the length of the film. Running time is 2 hours and 15 minutes, so there is a lot to fit in.
The music carries the film in a way that had me ready to hunt down the soundtrack. The music is fantastic-minus the hit song that she sings a ‘pop artist’. I won’t give it away, but you will know it when you hear it! Even Maine, can’t stand that song. Haha!
The Cast of A Star is Born:
Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott
I will say that if you are looking for a girl’s night out or a great date night movie. This is the show of the month to see.

Instant Family Movie Review
Running Time: 1 hour 26 minutes
I had the opportunity to reflect on a personal message while watching, “Instant Family”, which hit theaters nationwide this weekend.
Instant Family Story Line
“Instant Family” is based on the true story of the screenwriter and director.
A married couple, that is very settled in their ways, decides to become foster parents rather quickly.
While you’re watching, you’ll discover what it’s really like (and I can attest to this, having been through it myself) to welcome foster children into your home.
It’s a movie that will literally keep you laughing and crying (in a good way) throughout the entire journey.
The Movie Resonates with the Audience
My family knows from experience that fostering a child is a lot of work, but it is entirely worth it.
The love that you feel for a child when you embrace them as they are and welcome them into your home is tremendous.
It impacts you just as much as the child. You are all forever changed.
I think that’s why I loved “Instant Family” so much. The movie depicts what it’s like to foster and adopt a child in a way that is so real and raw that it resonated with me nearly instantly.
How was Instant Family?
“Instant Family” is easily my favorite movie I’ve seen in years. It’s raw, real, genuine, and overall really well done. The story line, the cast, the acting all work so well to create a great family movie to see this year. It really is perfect for all ages.
As we take time to reflect on all we are thankful for this holiday season, I personally encourage you to see Instant Family. You will love the feel good story and you’ll learn a lot along the way too.
Cast of Instant Family:
Aquaman – An Exciting Movie for All Ages
Running Time: 2 hours 23 minutes
Check out the Aquaman site to learn more!
Arthur is a product of two worlds that are at odds. He is learning his way, while learning to love and care for all.
He has a deep connection with both ocean life and the human world. His mother, the Queen of Atlantis escapes an arranged marriage and meets a light house keeper. Together, they create a family and fall deeply in love. Years later, we meet Arthur again.
He is charming and trained in Atlantian combat. He seeks out people to help and becomes dubbed ‘Aquaman’. He is then greeted by a princess of Atlantis, Mera. She leads him on a series of adventures to save to the kingdom from ruin at the hand of his half-brother.
This leads him to fulfill his destiny. The film villain, Manta is a great opposite character to face Aquaman but isn’t the driving force of the film. He is a dark side line to the film that helps to push things forward.
What Did We Think?
This movie brings out the best of lead actor Jason Mimoa. He shows off his physical prowess, unique tattoos and gruff charm. His character is a bit of a twist from the original comic, and instead the movie features the actor’s true heritage and ties in elements throughout the movie.
In the film, he is able to live between life and the fantasy world with unusual monsters that pop off the sea. As he dives into the ocean, the sea life and scenery surround him leaving the audience to feel as though they have submerged with him.
It. is. awesome!
The visual effects carried throughout the movie really bring the story to life. Overall, I have to give this movie a great rating.
It peeked my interest from beginning to end and had me jump out of my seat a couple times. I have been looking for another adventure to embrace and this one really caught my eye. This movie is definitely a must see!
Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Ludi Lin, Temuera Morrison
CoCo: A Movie In Review
Running Time: 1 hour 45 minutes
Disney Pixar’s new film Coco, which opened in theaters nationwide for Thanksgiving, is sure to capture your families’ heart this holiday season. The music transports you into a new world of colorful fantasy.
Colorful, vibrant, charming and feel good magic! My heart was completely filled with excitement after seeing this movie and I could not wait to share my thoughts on this movie with everyone. Take a look…
About the Movie
The film starts with young Miguel who has aspirations to play the guitar like his music hero Ernesto de la Cruz. Because of a family curse, he is forbidden to have any part of music. Family traditions are an utmost importance in this film especially the Day of the Dead, where families gather in cemeteries to celebrate their deceased relatives. On this day, Miguel sneaks out of the house to compete in a local talent show but instead ends up in the Land of the Dead!
In the upcoming events, Miguel is surrounded by his late ancestors as he sets out to find his musical legend Ernesto in hopes he will bless his ambitions and send him back to the living. Miguel’s journey takes him around the vibrant Land of the Dead with his cute dog, breaking into energetic Spanish songs and teaming up with a new friend Hector as mysteries of his family are revealed.
If you are wondering how scary the skeletons are for younger kids I would honestly say not scary at all. The first time the skeletons appeared my daughter was a little taken back but the lively dressed skeletons are such a huge part of the movie you don’t even think twice. The Land of the Dead is a warm, energetic and enchanting.
This movie is full of fun and lighthearted humor. With its focus on family and traditions, it is the perfect way to start off the holiday season. I cannot wait to relive this film again!
Avengers Infinity War Review
Running Time: 2 hours 29 minutes
Have you ever been to a movie where you experience every major emotion possible? …Yea?
Well let me forewarn you that Avengers Infinity War is that and so much more… MUCH MORE!
Marvel Movies = The Best Movies
If you are a Marvel movie fanatic then you have probably been waiting a very long time to see this movie. Believe me…the hype is real!
Often times we see superhero movies that tend to lack emotion. Filled with lot of explosions, cheeky jokes and a hidden love story or political message. But Infinity War is different!
Yes there is a lot of fighting & blowing things up, amazing jokes, and that infamous love story but what sets this apart from other superhero movies is the fact that the writers and directors were able to really balance the cast of A- List supers and create a story line that really draws us in.
Focused on the Story Line
I have a theory about movies which contain too many big names or A-list actors, and that is that they always flop. They have too many story lines trying to connect in some forced way and it usually ends up a mess.
Well…the writers of Avengers Infinity War proved me wrong!
They perfectly connected each character from where their own stories/movies left off and how they are now, depending on each other, to conquer Thanos, the villain of all villains! I’m sure by now you have seen many, many trailers and promos going around to know a little backstory and what the basis of this movie is so I won’t bore you with too much else about the story.
Plus I want to avoid any possible spoilers! So…should you go see it? Yes!
It’s a Must See Movie!
All in all Infinity War is an absolute MUST SEE! It came out May 27th and I have already seen it twice! I seriously had the same reactions both times. I was excited, shocked, happy, sad and pumped for the second half!
If you don’t have any plans this weekend, day or evening.. GO SEE INFINITY WAR!
PS: in true Marvel movie fashion, wait until the credits roll! You won’t want to miss a preview of what’s to come!
Christopher Robin Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 104 minutes
We can all agree there’s nothing quite like a sweet, timeless story of Winnie the Pooh.
The new Christopher Robin movie (do you remember who that is?) captures your heart and leaves you with that “feel good” tingle.
Disney’s new follow up to the classic Winnie The Pooh story, Christopher Robin, promises to deliver just that…but does it live up to the expectations for moviegoers?
The Modern Winne the Pooh Movie
The Christopher Robin movie follows up with the characters in the Hundred Acre Wood, like Winnie the Pooh, as well as Christopher himself. Christopher Robin is now an adult living in London with a family of his own.
Times have drastically changed since the days when Christopher played in the Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh and friends. War, the everyday stresses of raising a family, and pressure at work have changed him.
Christopher’s family is feeling the effects of his absence in their lives. Winnie the Pooh, in a search for his Hundred Acre Wood friends, ends up exactly where he’s needed – in the heart of London. Right where adult Christopher Robin lives.
What is the Best Part of Christopher Robin?
The visual effects in the film were, by and far, my favorite part.
The characters were exactly as you imagine they should be and both the London. Also, the Hundred Acre Wood backdrops are beautifully done, helping you to get into the story line as a viewer. The story itself is sweet for both children and adults alike. The Christopher Robin movie gives a lesson to everyone, even though each gets something different out of it.
My seven-year-old daughter, Charlotte, has been a fan of Winnie the Pooh for just about her entire life. Although slow moving at the start of the movie, once the story picked up its pace, Charlotte really started getting into it.
For Charlotte, she enjoyed seeing the fun characters that she’s grown to love over the years “come to life” on the big screen. I appreciated the message about family and the importance of taking time to do nothing with your family. Which, according to Pooh, is sometimes the very best thing to do.
It reminded me, with a crazy busy schedule of my own, to take time to spend with my family…a reminder I think we all need every once in a while.
Overall, this movie was great to see. It’s sweet, has beautiful imagery, and great messaging for families. On a scale from 1 to 10, I give “Christopher Robin” a 7. It’s well done! We recommend checking out the Christopher Robin movie at a theater near you. If you need help finding a theater, check out the B&B locations….there are TONS all across Kansas City!
Christopher Robin Cast:
Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, Mark Gatiss
With Voices of:
Jim Cummings, Brad Garrett, Toby Jones, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi, Sophie Okonedo

Dog Days Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 1 hour 52 minutes
Is it a kids movie?
Any movie that features a chihuahua in a helmet gets a thumbs up from me. Add in an overweight pug and it’s a slam dunk.
This movie was adorable. I love romantic comedies—the cheesier, the better. And I love dogs. So before the Dog Days film even started, I knew I was going to like it.
What I didn’t anticipate was how much I would not only relate to the story but root for these characters.
The Dogs Days Movie Story Line
The premise of Dog Days is that dogs bring people together; that they make people better versions of themselves.
The movie is set up a lot like New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day…those movies where the characters’ stories are told before you know how they will all intertwine. You get to see everyone’s story develop separately. Then, slowly the story comes together.
The ensemble cast of this movie included some of my favorites; Eva Longoria, Thomas Lennon, Adam Pally (The Mindy Project) and Ron Cephas Jones (of This is Us fame).
Dog Days walks us through the lives of a TV personality, a new mother of twins and her screw up brother, a young twenty-something with a degree she can’t use, and a widower, to name a few. There are many moments where I laughed out loud, most memorably a scene in an elevator involving mace and a dog in an equipment case.
There were also moments that made me cry, both happy tears and sad. I don’t want to give too much away, but what I loved was that the scenes were played very well by the characters They weren’t overacted or overly cheesy.
Grace, a new mom to an adopted daughter, made me laugh through my happy tears when she awkwardly hugs a total stranger. At one point a dog doesn’t make it, and of course, I am crying. The Dog Days movie manages to take that moment and add a comedic twist that again, made me laugh through my tears.
You end up rooting for characters to become couples, dogs to be adopted, and a pet rescue shelter to find a new home.
An added bonus to this movie is the soundtrack. There is a breakfast dance party to WannaBe by the Spice Girls, and the movie features several funk style covers of 80s and 90s hits by a band called Pink Ape, featuring Jasmine Cephas Jones (Ron Cephas Jones’ daughter). My personal favorite was You’ve Got It (The Right Stuff). I’m still an NKOTB fan, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
The movie is rated PG, so it’s definitely okay to bring your kids to. There was enough of the cute dogs in it that it kept my 6 and 8-year-olds’ attention. There was definitely humor in it meant for adults, including a dog who eats an entire batch of pot brownies, but there was nothing that I worried about my children seeing.
Dog Days was cute, heartwarming and funny.
It was definitely worth the watch. I will be going to see it again before it’s out of the theater. In the words of my six-year-old daughter (who thought the press seat was the coolest thing ever) “it made my eyes leak a little and it made me laugh.”
Dog Days Cast:
Nina Dobrev, Vanessa Hudgens, Adam Pally, Eva Longoria, Rob Corddry, Tone Bell, Jon Bass, Michael Cassidy, Thomas Lennon, Tig Notaro, Finn Wolfhard and Ron Cephas Jones

A Simple Favor Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 1 hour 59 minutes
Perfect for Date Night or a Girls night out movie!
“Secrets are like margarine — easy to spread, bad for the heart.”
If you’re looking to see a great movie A Simple Favor is it! A Simple Favor is the perfect movie for a date night, or a night out with friends!
I had the opportunity to view this movie a few days before the release date. My husband and I were both very impressed! If you are a big fan of Gone Girl, and Dark Places this is a must-see movie!
A Simple Favor Storyline:
The movie takes place in small-town Connecticut. It is centered around 2 main characters Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) and her best friend Emily (Blake Lively). Stephanie is the ideal “perfect” Mom. She spends her day video blogging, volunteering at her sons’ school and being a mom to her only son.
Emily is the opposite of Stephanie. She is a career-driven, working mom in the fashion industry, that loves her afternoon cocktails and is married to her novelist husband (Henry Golding). Emily is the “bad” mom.
Stephanie is asked for “A Simple Favor” by Emily, to watch her son while she takes a business trip. Emily never returns home, she vanished, and no one knew where she went. The movie follows the twists and turns of her disappearance.
The story is full of secrets, love, murder, and greed.
…definitely worth the watch to find out what happens!
What are the good parts of A Simple Favor?
-The story keeps you guessing and wanting to know more about the entire movie. The twists and turns are easy to keep up with, but enough to keep you wondering “what’s next”.
-There were lots of funny parts in the movie
What are the downsides of A Simple Favor?
-I wasn’t a big fan of the way it ended. I think that could have made the ending with a little less humor
This a great movie for adults who need a laugh. Overall it was a great movie! On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give A Simple Favor an “8”.
A Simple Favor Cast:
Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, & Henry Golding

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 8 minutes
As someone that grew up a Jurassic Park fan, I was definitely excited to see this one.
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is the second installment to the Jurassic World franchise. It stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help) and of course the dinosaurs!
When the movie first starts, it picks up 3 years after the theme park “Jurassic World” was destroyed by uncaged dinosaurs. I felt the Fallen Kingdom had a slow start but did a decent job filling in the viewers of what happened in the previous film. Fallen Kingdom also prepares it’s viewers with some foreshadowing of the events to come.
Once you make it past the backstory and get caught up with the characters, you find yourself torn between wanting to let nature take its course or venturing out with philanthropists to save the dinosaurs. All the while trying to flee from an island full of carnivorous, gigantic beasts from an active volcano.
Check Out This Great Flick
Outside of a few political jabs and heart string pulling moments, this film was well written, funny and visually enticing!
Overall this was a much “different” version of previous Jurassic Parks /World. There seemed to be more emotion present between the lead characters and the animals as opposed the films of the past.
I do recommend if you have younger children, under the age of 8, it might be a little intense. Some scenes were a tad frightening for my 11, 10, and 7-year-old.
I would rate Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom a solid 7 out of 10. Definitely a great movie to see with older kiddos!
Jurassic World Cast:
Pratt and Howard return alongside executive producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. They are joined by co-stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall and Isabella Sermon, while BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles.
Incredibles 2 Movie Review
RUNNING TIME: 118 minutes
Does the Incredibles 2 live up to the hype?
I had the chance to take in an advanced screening of the movie earlier this week with some of our iFamilyKC winners and their families (Missed out on the giveaway? Be sure that you’re on our eNews list to get in on future opportunities.) …read below to find out:
The Storyline: Keeps You Engaged
The movie picks up shortly after the last one left off and starts out with a bang as Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and their crime-fighting children work together in an attempt to stop an underground bank robber from destroying the city. Unfortunately, circumstances are not in their favor and chaos ensues.
The local government, already opposed to superheroes in general, shuts down the Incredibles and they’re forced to make an attempt at life in the real world.
Unsure of where they’ll land…
Elastigirl receives an offer she simply can’t refuse when a wealthy fan offers to help change the image of superheroes in the eyes of the law. And so Helen (Elastigirl) goes back to work leaving Bob (Mr. Incredible) to stay at home with the kids (Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack). Much of the middle part of the film is dedicated to their transition into a new lifestyle with Helen serving as the breadwinner and Bob making it work in his new role at home full time. It’s a story that adults can relate to while children enjoy the silly and exciting parts of the film in between.
Without giving it away, all is not as it seems and the superhero family ultimately ends up needing to rely on each other to get out of a sticky situation and save the day. The message is equally as important for kids as it is for grownups, a story that tells us to work together as a team in order to see a positive outcome.
Go See It!
This film is exciting and enjoyable, a definite summer must see for the whole family. I highly recommend taking the kids out. As a fan of the first film, I really appreciated how well the second one was done and my seven year old enjoyed it even more.
Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Bird, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Jonathan Banks, Sophia Bush, Isabella Rossellini
