Story Time in the Barn
Educational exploration for preschoolers will take place on the third Thursday of each month at the historic Alexander Majors Barn. Based on a storybook, preschoolers will enjoy themed activities and crafts designed to help them develop essential skills. Barn days are perfect for toddlers up through preschoolers.
Barn days are $5 per student. An adult helper is requested to stay with each child to ensure they get the most out of the activities.
Red House, Blue House, Tree House, Little Bitty Brown Mouse by Jane Goodwin
Explore colors with the book Red House, Blue House, Tree House, Little Bitty Brown Mouse by Jane Goodwin. Students will develop their color-based skills with activities such as a sorting sensory bin and rainbow bread painting. Each child will leave with their own little bitty brown (puppet) mouse.
Bark, George by Jules Feiffer
Bark, George by Jules Feiffer playfully explores animal sounds. Your little one will get their wiggles out during animal yoga then practice their veterinary skills.
So Many Butterflies! By Lara Bergen
Ring in the spring with the charming tale So Many Butterflies! by Lara Bergen. Our butterfly-themed activities this week will focus on developing preschoolers’ fine motor skills.
Counting Dinos by Eric Pinder
Help your preschooler practice their counting skills during our dinosaur-themed week. Counting Dinos by Eric Pinder will serve as a jumping-off point for creating dinosaur feet, a counting board game, and a sorting game.
A Green, Green Garden by Mercer Mayer*
The familiar children’s book character Little Critter will lead preschoolers on a garden-themed journey. Students will have the opportunity to do gardening of their own in the John Wornall House kitchen garden. They will also learn about the growth cycle of plants.

Little Bear and the Marco Polo by Else Minarik
This globe-themed week will introduce ideas such as travel and the difference between land, air, and water. The highlight of our Little Bear and the Marco Polo week will be students sailing their own popsicle stick boat.
