Valentine’s Day isn’t just about flowers and boxes of heart shaped candies. It’s about sharing love & appreciation for the special people in your life, while enjoying time together.

There are many Valentine’s Day activities you can do as a family. Spending time together – creating memories – is the best way to show them how much you care.

Kids Valentines Day Activities:

These fun things to do on Valentines Day give a gift from the heart by spending time together. Turn it into a celebration of love! 

1. Will Zoo Be Mine at KC Zoo

Explore love in the animal kingdom at The Kansas City Zoo’s Will Zoo Be Mine event!

Families can learn about how different animals find love in the wild. If your children are into animals, this is a fun event for them to learn while enjoying time together. 

The Valentines Day event will be from 10 am to 2 pm, February 8th & 9th. (Saturday & Sunday)

2. Family Date Night during Valentines Week at Paradise Park

Paradise Park in Lee’s Summit offers fun date night deals & other packages – great for couples and for the entire family. On Friday, their new date night deal includes a large single-topping pizza, All-You-Can-Play Game Card and your choice of 1 Adventure Attraction to enjoy together. $25 per couple.

They are also hosting Valentines Week from February 9th to 15th, so you can stop in any time to enjoy themed activities and Discovery Play!

3. Valentines-Themed Cooking Classes with the Family

Take a Valentine’s themed cooking class with the whole family instead of going out to eat this year.

5. Kids Night Out ON V-Day!

Kansas City Young Audiences is hosting a kids night out (Parents Night Off) ON Valentines Day! You must sign-up before, but they have easy online enrollment. 

Children 5 to 13 years old can come have fun from 6 to 10 pm, while you’re out on a Valentines Day date. There will be dancing, art activities, pizza, drinks & fun…

Parents! Drop your kids (ages 5-13) off for a unique opportunity to to be creative and have fun with their friends at KCYA and then you can have your very own Valentine’s night out!

6. Heart String Art Craft at Home Depot

Build a heart string art craft with your child at Home Depot workshops – perfect for a V-day gift or decoration. 

Participating Home Depot locations are hosting a Valentine’s Day workshop for kids. This is a fun, free thing to do on Valentine’s Day with your kiddos.

All kids must be registered and accompanied by at adult. Head to Home Depot on Saturday, Febuary 1st from 9:00 am to Noon to participate.

Children receive a certificate of achievement, workshop apron, pin, & their project.

7. Go Out to Eat Together – Kids Eat FREE!

There are many places in KC where kids eat free on Fridays. So go on a family dinner date…while saving some money! Cha-ching.

8. Make Heart-Shaped Pancakes

Food makes everything better. …right?

Have family breakfast on Valentine’s Day with heart shaped food! You can make heart shaped pancakes pretty easily…or cut fruit into hearts 🙂

9.  A Day of Crafts

Make it a day of little surprises with fun activities that the family can enjoy.

12. Have a Read & Feed Day at Home

This one might be best reserved for the weekend but it is a great activity none-the-less. 

Snuggling and reading together is always fun with your loved ones. There are many children’s books that say ‘I love you’.

Create simple snacks or appetizers, then lounge around in your comfy clothes with warm blankets and hot cocoa. Relaxing together is a great way to relieve stress too!

13. Valentine’s Day Party at Home

Have a little Valentine’s Day celebration at home with cute plates, cups, and napkins. You can always find goodies at the Dollar Tree…for cheap!
